Несколько отзывов прямо связывают этот профиль с двойной выдержкой в бурбоне и портовых бочках и называют его удачным сочетанием характера дистиллерии и винных нот. Нос — Lots of malt, smoking dry heather, cherries and raspberries in a newspaper bag, the scent of a little overripe, crushed dark plum. Second nose. Kerosene, pine needles. Intensity: 7/10
Вкус — Wateriness, salt, then lightning-fast perfume, then tartness and richness of sweet and sour cranberries in an oak barrel, hot pepper. That's about the closed part. Then the flavor unfolds with other notes. Wateriness gives way to oiliness, wine notes emerge, the bitterness of smoking heather, and the taste becomes even more tart and deep. Sweetness: 7/10 Saturation: 9/10
Финиш — Dry, smoking heather, a little perfume, salt, lemon, a little peach, dry wine. Extremely persistent and prone to long-lasting development even after you haven't taken a sip for a long time.

Нос 92 A magnificent, fleshy, leathery Bowmore nose, as you'd expect from a port cask. A maritime breeze, and after a while, mango and pineapple as fruity accompaniments.
Вкус 91 Full-bodied, creamy, chocolatey, and salty. Raisin-like fruit, then a light Bowmore smoky note, beautifully earthy and spicy. The port pairs perfectly with this spirit.
Финиш 92 Very long, dark chocolate, salt and heavy red fruit linger for a very long time.

Нос 90 Pure - creamy, red fruits, earthy, violets, blueberries, the alcohol is perfectly integrated, chocolatey notes emerge, a touch of charcoal.
Вкус 90 Pure - soft, almost inconspicuous, the initial taste is therefore somewhat weak, but then the wonderful berry aromas come through: raspberry, blueberry, slightly earthy and mineral.
Финиш 89 Pure - the smoky-mineral tone remains dominant, paired with delicate berry and wine-like notes, slightly dry and ashy, the bitter wood note intensifies, tastes good

Joins seamlessly into the previously tried older Port Bowmore. They were all kissed a little bit by the violet, which does not bother me in the station wagon. Line up for me between the 18yo Manzanilla and the 26yo French Oak, where he then can not keep up with the manzanilla at the PLV.

Bowmore 27 Year Old is the final whisky of the trilogy. This liquid is double matured, having been aged for 13 years in ex-bourbon barrels before being transferred into port pipes for a further 14 years, resulting in a deep mahogany colour. The combination of ex-bourbon and port casks has created a unique Bowmore expression that showcases the rich flavour Bowmore is famous for in a completely new way.

Нос 91 initially a little smoke, fruity components, slightly tickling in the nose with a hint of menthol. Takes some time and care. :) A while later: now it appears very harmonious with many interwoven aromas, smoke and spices (trace of pepper). Somewhat syrupy, sweet and spicy, a hint of lavender. + H2O: a little fruity and elegant in appearance.
Вкус 90 easy onset, somewhat smoky and spicy, a hint of flowery, warm notes of different woods, a little citrus, spices, here also a bit syrupy, hint of barrel and coffee, dry fruit, sweet and tart, a little perfumed and a little spicy.
Финиш 89 initially tart and smoky, some oak and fruitiness, a little herbal, later with a hint of lavender, dark chocolate and a little bit of light malty.

In direct comparison to the 26er Bordeaux, the 26er clearly wins for me, which is due to the typical violet character of the 27er. If you like it, go for it. I can't stand it. Theoretically, the whisky was distilled in 1991, which should mean there shouldn't be any violets in it, but it seems likely that one from before that time found its way into the spirit, and that completely ruins it for me.

This has a full on nose but there is a rubber note that smells like a bicycle inner tube that spoils the party a little. This is far to woody, it is like licking a plank of wood, the Sherry is on the bitter side. The fruit is of the sour plum variety. I have no idea how something this bland can command a £300 asking price, it is worth £50 tops from a drinking perspective and that is being generous.

COLOR: amber / ruby red - definitely a representative of the Champions League - very intense, voluminous mouthfeel - very powerful and strong in taste - unlike the 26 year old (not so filigree, fruity) more heavy, intense, dark chocolate and coffee dominate the aroma - for about 400 € an extreme price, but you can also make a very complex malt

The initial aroma of soap flowers is very captivating, though the finish is a bit short. Overall, it's a somewhat general wine, but still a very excellent barrel-aged Bowmore.

Нос 88 Very delicate smoke, vanilla, leather, cherries, plums, a hint of lemon and passion fruit, oak spice.
Вкус 90 Tender smoke. Nice and sparkling start. Then very oily and soft in the mouth. Christmas spiced tea with a dash of dark red grape juice. Plums, marzipan, pipe tobacco.
Финиш 90 Long finish. Wonderful oak spice with very light smoke and plum in Madeira. Long after swallowing, you can still find delicious and oily droplets in the corners of your mouth with your tongue.

An intense, massive, heavy and wonderfully old single malt that wonderfully reflects the long partial maturation (14 years) in port wine barrels! Definitely the "Champions League" a top malt! [Color:] = ruby red;

Usually when "red" cask maturation is concerned an ex-port pipe might be considered a safer option. However, compared to the 21 y/o (WB191074) and 26 y/o (WB100740) wine cask matured drams I tasted first, this one is by far the least balanced and it really runs down hill in the finish.

Нос 87 The nose is pretty solid, but already this is more reminiscent of cheap sour wine than the actual ex-wine matured drams are. Sour red fruit, bitter cocoa, quite sharp and alcoholic and already pretty spicy on peppers.
Вкус 86 Sour red fruit, sour wine, bitter chocolate, a bit earthy, spicy on clove and pepper. A clear build up of tannins in the development.
Финиш 82 Very long and this is not a good thing. Initially sour red berries, but this is quickly overpowered by notes of cheap sour wine, bitter spice and unpleasantly long lingering tannins. Not a great whisky at all in my book. To each their own, but for me the 90+ points avarage is absolutey ridiculous.

Having tried the 60s and 70s, I feel that the 90s generation of Bowmore is still a bit lacking... But it's not its fault, it's just delicious.

What a fantastic whisky. The nose is so awesome, you do not want to stop sniffing. Very nice, too, that the nose does not jump in the face, but wants to be discovered.

Нос 93 If "elegant" was not such a preposterous and stereotypical description, you could call it the first impression you get. Very closely interwoven flavors that deliver a coherent overall picture and can be separated only slowly. Spicy smoke, very concise for 27 years. Old creaky leather, cooled pipe smoke. Very spicy with pepper, nutmeg, cloves, bay leaves and a pinch of curry spice. Candied cherries and raisins as a fruity base, served with milk chocolate and marzipan bread.
Вкус 92 Creamy-spicy start with fruit sweet taste (raspberry). The spicy smoke creates its intensity on the tongue, it has a cooling and mentholig. Peppermint. Will dry quickly. Lavender flowers, old oak planks, leather, tobacco, dark chocolate, but the fruit note as a constant companion, so that it is not too dark or tart. Caramel and soft toffee. The lavender note becomes more intense over time, without being obtrusive.
Финиш 91 Medium to long finish, dry. The smoke is still there, lavender and raspberry syrup in a beautiful combination with leather and tobacco notes.

Just like the 26! An extremely high quality single malt. Immediately you feel more than usual. That is exactly the attraction of this hobby: "Finding the unicorn in the forest" A port cask dream in the finest amber / mahogany color. It is immediately clear from the nose ... something special!

Нос — How should you describe that. The finest tobacco leaves in elegant leather bags, hung in a spice chamber right next to the smokehouse. As soon as this whole world of spices is crumbled, the fruit notes come through in the finest balance, which are then deliciously served on a chocolate berry compote and provoke the first sip. You could smell forever but the first sip is very imposing.
Вкус — The palate delivers exactly what the nose promised. It starts full and spicy with earthy, sweet and salty notes. A special kind of oral experience. Immediately everything is underlaid with dark fruitiness and in between there is a hint of rose water dancing in front of your nose, but not perfume-heavy. Everything works in perfect harmony. “The unicorn“… I've got it. Now the thought comes up: “As with the Glengoyne25” ... no matter what it costs, it has to be.
Финиш — Medium to long and yes, ... there happens what doesn't happen every day. We carefully take the tobacco leather bags from the hook and leave the spice chamber. A freshly poured berry juice is still standing by the smokehouse. Of course we still empty it and today we are definitely one of the happiest people to fall asleep. I am anyway. ;)

An old Bowmore from the picture book. The nose picks me up brutally. Somewhere between barbecue, mulled wine, spice market and Irish moss...crazy shit. In the mouth then more Islay vibes - and I think I can also perceive the famous violets here. Then remains quite stable in the finish. The highlight remains the nosing.

A Bowmore 27Y for around 350 € is relatively inexpensive these days. Overall, it's worth it, but there are cheaper malts that can easily take on the 27 Bowmore. All in all, a very noble part in the mouth and in the finish! The nose gets better with every glass, it was a bit slack in the beginning.

A really very complex malt. Dried fruits, sweetness and chocolate can be detected on the nose, with the aromas being very well interwoven and the characteristic port note constantly present. These impressions continue seamlessly on the palate, with some leather added. Smoke is almost unnoticeable and the finish is medium to long. If only it weren't for the price...

Everything seems to be in place, the phenolic part, and the port is very clearly presented, there is density and pressure, but something is too straightforward for a 27-year-old release and not particularly deep.

Deliciously disappointing. The 21 Port 1988 http://whiskybase.com/whisky/7523/bowmore-1988 was one of the best whiskys I've tasted so far (I say, loosely top ten under 2000). In this respect, the expectation was very high and was disappointed. Especially the nose - for a SV-Hogshead of a third-row-Speiser's top, for a 27er OA! Port! -Bowmore nothing. In the taste then very delicious, but not so much better than the very delicious 18er OA. Maybe somewhere in the middle between 18er standard and above 21er port. After all, not as big a disappointment as the 18's Manzanilla from the Vintner's Trilogy.

Not the best port maturation to be honest. It suffers from the muddy effect I normally get with red wine maturations. Two red wine barrique matured Bowmores 21 y/o (WB191074) and 26 y/o (WB100740) were much better balanced and easily outperformed this one. In fact, most participants of a tasting in which we enjoyed a high quality lineup of eight older Bowmores identified this one as their least favourite dram even though this 27 y/o has the highest whiskybase score. We brought it down a little bit with scores hoovering around 85/86 point, deservedly so.

Нос 88 Lightly peated at the front, with that unique Bowmore-peat of smoldering campfire, ozone, and dough. A ripe fruitiness with a sour undertone of grapefruits unfolds, together with curry spices, vanilla and salty caramel. On the background it's a bit earthy and dusty.
Вкус 87 And soft and oily palate accompanied by light peat. Vanilla, red fruits, figs and light spices. It slowly becomes drier and a bit sour, earthy and tart, something I label as 'muddy'.
Финиш 83 Slightly stronger peated now with light fruits, wet wood, and a more pronounced muddiness. This really went downhill!

I have a hard time to find what I appreciate in Bowmore normally. The port influence to me is smothering. Maybe it will work better with more time and air. Sampled at the Bowmore bar.

The Bowmore 27 is of course very good. But I drank better single paints whisky for less money. Still very good 90 points from me

Wonderful port cask maturation. Like the 26y French Oak in the series, this is a wonderfully successful malt, but I like the 26y even better (it has a slight hint of soapiness on the finish).
