Another classic 10y.o. cask strength batch by Laphroaig. Big and bold peat blast upfront. Leather, malted barley, seabreeze and wet rocks. Oily and coating on the palate. Cheers to Laphroaig for keeping the quality consistent and the price for this age statement bottling reasonable year after year.

Always a pleasure and worth every penny. One of the best batches so far.

The style may not please everyone, and this whisky certainly lacks a little more control and complexity. But me, it's quite my kind of cam! At the initial price (around € 65), it's more than a bargain.

Another very nice Laphroaig 10 CS version. This one is very dry and peppery. Concerning price/performance ratio: 10/10

Well, the year of bottling in 2016, the flight was normal, the aroma increased velvety, but this is only a deviation of this batch, but otherwise everything is just as fine as in the previous releases - powerful, tight, balanced, each batch is individual in its own way within the general directivity, a sense of uniformity does not arise.

A nuclear attack in the oral cavity that everyone must experience if they want to understand what a peat monster really means. But the rest is not very interesting and the whisky is nothing special. At least this edition.

2017-09-22: Strong whisky, well composed, bright and juicy. The game of sweet and salty is just amazing. Delicious ash theme.

I like it, but the previous batch was definitely better. That onewas more refined with more active casks.

Another winner from Laphroaig. An almost unbeatable price/quality-ratio.

This one is for hardcore islayholics only: quite dry, medicinal, ashy and intense. Laphroaig galore!  90 p.

a nearly pefect balanced dram and for me even better then batch 007 and 006.

"Batch 006 - 58% VS Batch 008 - 59.2%" Tasted parallel. On the nose, both are smoked and very peppery. Small advantage at 008 for intensity (thanks to the extra 1.2% alcohol?) Medicinal malt, a little more grass for the 006 where I detect thyme. The 006 has meaty accents, while the 008 switches to the side of gluttony with chocolate cereals. On the palate, both are ultra intense and peppery with an almost chewy texture so the malt is thick. The 008 seems to me richer and warmer, while the 006 is more direct and malty. Final very opulent, covering and peppered for the 006. More round but a little less omnipresent for the 008. Enthusiasm 4/5 for both but advantage at 006 for his more direct profile, a matter of taste. Whiskys No. 1367 and 1368

A wild Islay whisky as I love especially in autumn and winter.

A very well-fitted and well-chosen set of components. A rather "quiet" aroma is replaced by a rich taste.

A Laphi CS, which works more to my liking, so to speak without band-aids & Co. In this respect it is refreshingly different from batches 9 to 13. It tolerates water, but doesn't have to. Classic Isla! Kalashnikov among whisky. Delicious, powerful, smoky and medicinal.

Took a whole bottle. I really wanted to have a good bottle of Laphroaig, and I see that I did not miss it. Fruit smoke, ash and cream. Quite oily and rich. Apricots appear with water. It tastes like smoked plum or prune, medical bandages. Very tasty

Citrus, ripe and toasted fruits with ash, minerals with smoke in the background. The taste is well spiced, sweet and salty. The finish is dry, sharp, enveloping. 22.5-22.5-22-22

Another solid 10yo CS release. I find it a tad better than batch #007 but below batch #006 (which is my favorite of the recent batches). It seems Laphroaig is exploring the ashy side with #007 and #008. I would prefer the fruitier side of the #006.

For me, this is the only Laphroaig expression that I really want to have in my collection but it's worth every single penny. Still available at the distillery shop for 45,83£ (July 2016)

What a dram, pops full. Very sturdy, but still nicely balanced. Between the peat and tobacco violence also some room for fruitiness. All in all very pleasant!

Bang for your buck as always, but batch #8 is really marvellous:Sweet, savoury, smoky - the three ultimate goals in Laphroaigology!

Great smoky malt. Deep, complex, powerful, well balanced. Much better than modern batches

Classic Laphroaig again, great quality. Instead of the sherry influence we get dark notes, charred casks leave their traces in the whisky. Everything done well!

This one put me right back to my first Laffy. It's got more of the distinct Laphroaig medicinal and sweet peat caracter that I fell have been fading from the regular 10YO in recent years.

Powerdram, lots of peat, lots of alcohol, but nice in balance.

- april 2017 - my favourite of the lot (003-004-005-006-007-008) . Close to the 006 and the 003 but better still, and easily leaves behind the 004, 005 and 007 by some margin.

A powerful whisky, beautifully balanced and rounded. Strong, delicate and warming. A perfect combination of the rich, the sweet and the peaty/smoky. Peaty smoke, strong notes of gum, deep and various sweet cream, sweet barley malt, medical stripes, honey.

Delicious 8 release. Fruit in the smoke.

Real complex beast! Around 60% is absolutely fine! Very good job!

The nose immediately demands a dilution, the big peat liquorice is violent in terms of perceived alcohol and can not be approached easily. On the other hand, the palate is very pleasant with its thick texture, a very fat peat that crushes everything, and the alcohol is well integrated. Very long finish on the medicinal plants of the typical peat of Laphroaig, one finds there the notes of licorice of the nose. Even if this 10 CS is very good and remains a safe bet, I find that this batch lacks integration to the nose.

Great, very concentrated but great Laphroaig in his notes, like the other CS the strength and smoke integrated great.

- a top filling in cask thickness, - fully lives up to its entitlement as a special edition - significantly better, more intensive and higher quality than the standard 10 years - a bit stronger, sharper, less round and not so sweet compared to Batch 7 - comparable to the Lagavulin 12 Cask Strength 2017 - for the actual price a very tasty smoky representative at a fair price and unconditional recommended price, - currently more interesting for collectors or real lovers

This year's batch looks a bit more balanced than last year's, and lacks the sherry influence that Batch 007 seemed to have. He is so consistent and tasty, that's very dangerous. After I had last year in direct comparison in the glass, the impression is confirmed. The characters are very different, 007 is already much too sweet in the taste, noticeably weaker in the nose, almost flat, while much mineral than 008. Yes, for me, Batch 008 has the edge.

Another fantastic batch!

In comparison with #007 less fruity, more minerally, and hence this year in a way more like an actual cs version of the 10 YO @40% abv. For me as good as the previous two batches, but I appreciate the distinct straight-forward Laphroaig-i-ness. Especially batch #007 seems almost a bit too playful as a LP CS in comparison and could have passed off as a Cairdeas with some restrained fortified wine finish. 2n try some days later, bottle got some air: starts of smooth, refined and sweet but quickly takes center stage with a a dominant body. Smell and taste different than, e.g. Quarter Cask, not only peat smoke but also burnt wood, a bit of classic Laga smoked bacon. Taste lingers long in your mouth. Excellent! Need to up my rating from 88 to 89.

What a board! Rarely has such a campfire burned with smoking smoke and ashes in my mouth. Violent sharpness plays with the campfire. An extraordinary batch! Interesting and unusual.

I can only say that this is a very good whisky! It needs a few drops of water and then it really opens. Good quality and the price is good as well. Laphroaig is doing a good job with these annual releases. Almost too bad that they come in this small releases, but then again it is always a nice surprise how these batches will taste.

Of all of the 10 CS series, he has a medical streak. Gauze bandage, iodine stapling tape. But he needs time and some water. Then the fruity and vanilla come through better. I liked the 006 batch a bit full-bodied. This one is more herbal

Singnature peat-in-your-face Laphroaig 10 CS style. Comparing this to batch 11 and this one is sweeter, fruitier and more earthy mostly. Less brutal if you will.

Today I taste the brand new Laphroaig Cask Strength. Yesterday my two bottles arrived at home and today I had to open a bottle of it. Color: Dark gold. First nose has something tart. I smell little smoke and no trace of alcohol. I give him time to unfold. After the whisky was allowed to breathe, chocolate comes through and slowly more and more smoke. Raisins knock on the nose. Included are fruity notes that I just can not sort. I'll take a sip now. The whisky is really nasty. Slowly but powerfully the alcohol comes in the mouth. The smoke is here now, and how! Smoke and the alcohol give a sweeping hit. I like the fact that the alcohol is not so extreme and it brings tears to your eyes. The alcohol is rather slow, heavy and round. Really great in whisky. The raisins have now hidden behind the smoke. Dry the whisky taste on the tongue remains after swallowing. Strong finish. Long and beautiful you can feel the Laphroaig in the neck. Can I hear a voice in the background screaming for "more"? What a horny whisky. The alcohol is noticeable, but blindly I would not have estimated him to the nearly 60% Vol. With a drop of water it is sweeter and milder in the nose. I do not like it quite spontaneously, but I taste more smoke in my mouth and now also noticeably the alcohol. Water is not necessary in retrospect. Finally a Laphroaig, as it should be and I like it. In 2014/2015, I was seriously disappointed by the classic edition of the classic ten-year-old, Quarter Cask and the Laphroaig Lore. The Cask Strength # 008 definitely needs time to develop. I would not necessarily take water for dilution. I think he fits the way he is. He's not terribly complex, but he does not have to be. tasted head to head with batch 7 n: I find quite similar to last years batch at first nosing, a tad more tarry and there is more liquorice and a little lovage.  so all in all a bit deeper or let´s say broader than batch 7. t:  very tarry, very much liquorice, less fruity than batch7. the medicinal side is very strong. slightly bitter development. f: very long, bitter liquorice comments: very good as usual. I prefer last years batch just a little bit. 89/100

The 8th batch has become delicious again. Overall, a little less sweetness compared to the 7th batch. For more smoke, campfire and barbecue. Absolutely to suggest.

wow, started with the Cairdeas 2017 just to warm up and thought may be something bit more smoky.... so what do we have here? Batch 008, noisy alcohol not that bad in itself but light years apart from batch 003 (which I liked best in the area horizontal Tasting of 2, 3, 4 & 8), just way more refined  longer and smoother and different class...sorry am doing a horizontal Laphroaig 10 CS tasting between 002, 003 and 005 and they are all so very good but quite different tastewise, would go for the 003 batch if I had to pick one, but complaining on a very high level, if you only have one of the other 2 - be happy and just enjoy it.just for the sake of scoring them batch 002 - 89p batch 003 - 90/91p batch 005 - 88p Batch 008 - 86p

Great whisky for a very good price.

N: Kilkerran-like smoke, Kilchoman too. I believe the latter shares an identical malting spec as Laphroaig, from the Port Ellen Maltings.. T: Fruity onto savoury, developing on chewy, smoky ash. F: Fruity, crunchy barley ash/charcoal before permeating smoke beds-in. C: Good for sure. If you want laphroaig 'direct', here it is.Scores a B

N- Roasted walnut with butter, cocoa bar. Rounded thick rooty smokes with finesse. Cool eucalyptus underlay. Graceful siblings of the standard 10YO. P- Bold, nutty, creamy texture with herbs and sour berries. Right caramel for sweetness. Bay leaf, layer of fresh wood and new book. F- Long and smooth with strength to last. Spicy coating with return of iodine to remind you that he is a Laphroaig. — at The Whisky Bar, Kuala Lumpur.

This is what I call a good example of a signature Laphroaig! Too bad it is limited, and only available to friends. Well, for that you only have to buy a bottle of any Laphroaig and enter the code on their website. So a good reason to buy that bottle of Quarter cask, also good for comparison with this.

This is my third or fourth Laphroaig Cask Strength 10yo and unfortunately this is my least favourite. By a long shot! The noise is very nice and no heat, but the palate and finish are both very hot. This is one of the hottest scotches I've every had. I drink a lot Octomore's (all without water) and none of them are anywhere as hot as this. For me this is a bad batch, compared to the others I've had. Very disappointing. Edit; This really needs water, with water it's smooths-out the very ruff heat and allows the sweet Laphroaigian style to shine through. After experimenting with water (this needs a bit more than most) I up my rating from 86 to 88. Still a little more abrasive than the other batches, so I stand by that this is not one of the better batches that I've had so far.

Tasted against 007. Not much to add to all the notes here. I would just say that don’t expect a spectacular difference between batches. People may analyze it to death, but at the end of the day Laphroaig has a formula and try to make them as close as possible. I can’t pick between the two, other than to say... buy them both! Love these Lp10cs. Best value on Islay by a mile.
