Strong dram, now I understand better why there's such a hype around old Glendronach. Balsamic vinegar, fruit basket, spices, sweetness. A perfect cask that, under strong influence, allows the distillate to shine through and sparkle. A delight.

The first half was great, but the ending felt slightly lacking.

A really great Glendronach - on a par with Parliament although completely different in taste.

Syrup-like sweetness, dates, raisins, marzipan, fatty, ripe oranges, sherry, some rose water, amarena cherry, dark, dense, ripe, heavy and full! The alcohol is well integrated, cinnamon, neat oak, clove, ginger, a little vinous in the mouth, first really velvety, silky, then dries off, he does not have the typical Glendronach acidity, ground pepper comes with oak, hazelnut and ginger in the finish ... madness!

[March, 2016]  Together with friends I emptied a bottle that I bought for 90 Euro in December, 2014. In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 90.  My notes state a perfect modern sherry profile without any flaws.  Dangerously quaffable...

eyes: soy sauce nose: At first it was sulfur, old books, sweet syrup and Chinese medicine. After a while, it smells preserved fruit, dehydrated dark berries. Flavored, turmeric powder, pink pepper. There are also dried plums and sour cream. At the end there are shredded tobacco and smoked wood. It has a medicinal odor throughout, and the smell is relatively dense. palate: After the entrance is a dessert covered with cream and preserved fruit, followed by heavy spices, probably cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon and fragrant amomum. The barrel taste is more obvious, the sour taste is medium, the ebony is dried, a little Chinese medicine. The second half is still cream cake, dark jam, black currant and toffee. body: medium weight, a little fat, more tannins, astringent, less irritating, medium bitter bottom finish: long, spices (ginger powder, ground pepper), syrup, wood, old newspaper Nose: 88/100 Palate: 90/100 Finish: 88/100 Body: 88/100 Overall: 88/100

A gorgeous malt! It has everything I like about Glendronach and sherried whisky in general. It is complex, savory, and sweet but not too extreme to make it a situational pleasure. As far as I know, vatted bottlins like these have been very rare in recent Glendronach history.

This whisky lacks the typical acidity of the distillery. The smell is overwhelming, but the palate shows much less sherry than the nose can expect. The oak is very present and unfortunately the whisky is too alcoholic. Nevertheless, he likes me. The whisky wins with water. He gets milder on the palate. I rarely dilute, but it makes sense here.

A great drop for sherry fans

He is already very beautiful in the glass, dark color, thick streaks. Pure sherry, followed by rose perfume and plum compote. Oh, you can drink it very well with its 55.8%, as you realize the age, wow! Not sweet, but spicy, it is a plumy, seedy fruit mix. Very beautiful!

This is the first surprising wine I have ever tasted. Smell is the standard Sherry Bucket flavor, pure but without any special memory points. The moment you enter the mouth, you don't feel like you're drinking because the alcohol content is particularly flat and you can't fully appreciate it. It's 55.8% vol. When you're surprised, the alcohol suddenly surges and appears, and your taste buds are very balanced without any discomfort.

I think my nose played a trick today, I tried it 2 or 3 times and always found it better than today

A delicious Glendronach! Creamy, spicy with lots of oranges. A perfect whisky, I like it a lot!

I am still excited. When I tried it a year ago, I gave it euphoric 95P. After this round, it remains at an excellent 93 points.

A great dram. But personally I prefer the Parliament. He is just sweeter, "rounder" and more succulent.

I can feel the beautiful floral aroma. The sherry barrel itself is of very good quality. It is a very good Donatella.

It tastes great and has a lot of variations.

RE: "Anyhow I am more of a GD Single Cask fan." What is the main difference, between most of the Glendronach "single cask" whiskies and this vintage expression ? I mean more than the statement "single cask" on the label of the so-called- "single casks" ? http://myannoyingopinions.com/2014/02/14/glendronach-confusion-single-cask/ I think the vintage expressions are just a much more straightforward way of marketing than these so-called- "single casks" that may have come also from an unknown variety of casks put together for just a finish of an unknown time in a "single cask" before final bottling - if I got that article correct, which I mentioned above . All the whisky in this 1995 vintage selection was matured in PX sherry casks. Some of the so-called-"single cask" - whiskies of the same distillery might have been first matured in oloroso casks or even ex-bourbon casks before finalizing it in that "single" PX cask, that is then named on the label giving it a "PX single cask" designation. That's a legal "single cask" whisky referring to the SWA 2009 regulations, but in my opinion it's not ethical, to call such products a "single cask" whisky. Therefore, nobody should speculate on "bad casks" used for that vintage expression. It's just  a special vintage bottling with its own taste and that's quite the same with the so called "single casks" from GD: They also each have their own taste.

a beautiful PX bomb, although I can not claim to be able to distinguish PX from Oloro to any doubt. He is always delicious!

GOT TOO MUCH PX IN IT.

This Glendronach has been on my list for a long time. What can I say... wow, what a malt, an intense PX sherry bomb, just my thing! Sweet dark sherry fruits, plums, dates and orange peel. Then coffee espresso, creamy dark chocolate and oak notes. In the end, long, soft and complex...

The sulfur smell is too strong, and the reputation is greater than the reality

Sherry Cask, with its perfect blend of saltiness, savory sauce, and sulfur, is a Glendronach that fits my stereotypical image of a Glendronach – very Glendronach indeed.

Nose: Immediately stronger and more full bodied than the Parliament, also more pleasing. Sweet, dried fruit - dates and plums, definately. Palate: Strong, sweet, you can feel the alcohol a little, spicy, very mouth watering. Finish: Warming, light bitternes - chocolate espresso. It's so mouth watering, I have to swallow again. On the second nose I can also detect the cinnamon sugar (as described on the back label). If you want to, you can find shoe polish, but I don't want to ;-) The second sip does feel softer, the alcohol is not detectable any more - sweet, chewy. Again, extremely mouth watering. The finish is now bitterer, very tasty, very long. No dilution today.

blind tasting Color: dark amber Nose: rich oak, vanilla, sherry. Also a kind of grape must, very dark dried fruits. Mouth: It makes me go right back. Very strong alcohol! Fruity, tannins, tobacco, licorice and lots of chocolate, a little honey, some spices. Finish: long and very warm Conclusion: Not so bad or very tasty. But a little too much alcohol. Very round and harmonious with water. A very fine soft chocolate note.

Quite good, but not comparable to the really good GD SC. 81-85 – Wow, really good one

The price of this bottle was 90€ at the beginning. So it tripled in about one year. It is amazing stuff what Glendronach did for this vintage bottling. With some water this expression get's more fruity. But be careful with every Glendronach. You can drown it quite fast. Concerning price/performance ratio: 9/10 (2014) and 7/10 (2016)

Absolutely awesome! My favourite! Beautiful nose with sherry, plums, dates, cinnamon-sugar, cloves, oranges. Mouthfeel like syrup. Intense & complex taste with sherry, sweetness, dark fruits, spices, orange-cest. Very long finish, all tastes remain, oranges and espresso in the end.

The dark plum, chocolate and raisins have a rich structure and Old Billy's blending ability is still amazing!

Chocolate cream, woody nuts and dried fruit, with a fermented aroma reminiscent of tropical fruits, sweet and silky, almost a perfect 90 points.

Batch with 2,000 bottles

Lots of sherry as per usual with Glendronach bottlings. PX influence is subtle and as such it is not as sweet as expected. Some sponge cake sweet on the palate. Finish is long with dark chocolate and oak spice. A nice and moderately complex dram

Hallelujah, what a shit (Sorry!). I can hardly remember the last time I had such a wonderful drop in my glass. Full points. Absolutely awesome.

Clean, oily, and with an unforgettable aftertaste.

Judging from the smell, the winery has made great efforts to blend this wine. The rich animal fat aroma is very characteristic. Unfortunately, the entrance is not satisfactory, and the consistent excellent style of retaining a single barrel is not retained.

One of the best Whiskies I have ever tasted! Perfect intense Sherry-bomb. In my opinion a cut above the 21-year-old "Parliament". Regrettably it was sold out quit quickly and got very expensive.
