Puhhhhh, how many times have I had this malt in my glass. Rarely have I regretted leaving the bottles on the shelf at the issue price. The dealer himself was surprised that I didn't pack this hype malt right away. Since I don't take Irish whiskeys lightly, I felt that €369 was too much. SERIOUS MISTAKE as I had to realize afterwards. Luckily my friend from the Maltkanzlei grabbed the bottles I left behind. A short time later I'm sitting with him, trying this whiskey and biting my lip because I can't believe how I could have left such a malt behind, especially since the price had doubled in the meantime. I was totally blown away by this fruity fresh Malaga bomber. An absolutely unique and unmistakable malt!!! After treating myself to a bottle despite the high price, I was surprised at how unbalanced it was right after opening. For a moment I regretted the purchase again... After a few weeks with the bottle open, however, it developed fantastically and managed to pick me up again. OXYGEN is the key with this malt. Therefore 89P immediately after opening, weeks later at a lower level 92-93P. A must-try malt!!!

The herbal sweetness of some isatis root, the tropical richness of Nanyang coffee, even close to rum, is very interesting.

A truly great, great whiskey. Single Malt and Bushmills are on the label, in places I wouldn't have been surprised if Single Pot Still and Redbreast had been on the label instead. Especially at the point where classic sherry fruits meet tropical fruits, it reminds me very much of one or the other (old) Redbreast Single Cask.

A fantastic whiskey! This fruitiness, coupled with the spice and pleasant dryness, is terrific. Everything here is perfectly coordinated and I have no complaints about the bottling. In my opinion, water is not needed and is rather counterproductive.

EYE / NOSE Dark tone, brownish-red. After gently waving the nosing glass, the malt runs slowly, viscous and oily back on the inside walls of the glass, forming wide, clear church windows, which - hopefully - allows initial conclusions to be drawn about a full, heavy body of the whiskey and thus plenty of taste. Long-matured whiskeys often have a wonderful structure. Then it gets warm to the heart. Wax, latte macchiato, hot chocolate, almond muffins with maple syrup, vanilla pulp, honey-like sweetness and spicy curry paste. Then elegant fruit notes emerge, pickled plums, elderflower syrup and a hint of ripe grapes. Interesting herbal notes play around the other aromas and give the nose a more than engaging complexity. The comparatively high alcohol content never has a disturbing effect, rather it seems to push and inspire the diverse aromas. PALATE Warm, soft, full-bodied. The oily Bushmills rolls over the tongue and velvety lines the mouth. On the tongue I perceive the typical taste of raisins pickled in sweet wine, as we know it from high-quality Malaga ice cream, which has not been experimented with with cheap rum. This is followed by almonds marinated in honey, white nougat and herbal sugar, a little caramel, a touch of cinnamon and light vanilla cream. The great sweetness, never sticky or artificial, is ingeniously complemented by fine fruity notes in the mouth, similar to before in the nose. Candied grapes and pears come to mind, but also the elderflower syrup, exactly as I already noticed it in the nose. Wonderfully composed. Elegant, multi-layered and incredibly delicious. The transition to the aftertaste is literally flowing and absolutely flawless ... FINISH / CONCLUSION ... while the flattering sweetness, honey and fine spice significantly shape the profile on the nose and on the palate, the fruit now pulls forward in the aftertaste. The change between the taste aromas and the reverberation fascinates me. Again the juicy, pickled raisins. The wine influence of the Malaga storage can now be felt. French chocolate tart follows. Water is absolutely unnecessary, it would only disturb the perfect balance of the aromas. The aftertaste is very long, warm, clean and offers a comprehensive sweet fruitiness that lasts for a long time and delights me towards the end with an aftertaste that can only be left behind by a melt-in-the-mouth ice cream. Has always been one of my favorite varieties, as I should complement. Our Bushmills is perhaps a bit drier than the latter. To look for missing notes would of course be ridiculous here. Wow, what an extraordinary and good whiskey. The Malaga finish and the Bushmills character are on point and merge into an absolutely unique whiskey. Anyone who has tried this malt for the first time just wants more. Not overlaid or too artificial, instead a tropical fruit bomb that surprises with a roller coaster of flavors! An absolutely unique taste experience and great cinema. Really good job from the master blender !!!

vertical tasted versus Bushmills 16 and 21, both from 2013. This 28y old is for me one of the biggest surprises this year, I never had a better irish whiskey before and I never expected Bushmills to have such good barrels in their stock. Full and complex, typical irish profile, the Malaga cask reminds me of the so named ice cream. Raisins, fruitiness, wood, all in perfect balance and so well aged, I can't find any other words than simply a wow! Almost perfect, other irish whiskeys like that Cadenhead Cooley 11y (that is actually 26y old) do very well, too, but this is on another level. Perhaps there is headroom for even better whiskeys, so I won't give it a 94 or 95, but it deserves 93 points definitely.

Wow! What a great Bushmills! The variety of flavors is simply unbelievable. The nose alone is easy to put in and reveals a force that is seldom found. Incredibly intense, also in taste. A sweet, fully ripe and elegant fruit basket! For me one of the TOP 5 whiskeys 2020!

one of the best Irish I even had!

This is a really tasty whiskey. He manages not to let anything appear too dominant and yet never to be boring. It's nice to be able to try a sample, because there won't be a bottle of it.

Unfortunately I don't have a direct comparison. But I think I had 25y that I liked much better. 86-90 – Wow, really good one, needs a bottle

A whisky that lends itself to small sips and repeated encounters.. i didn’t quite get it at first.. so the natural tendency was to have more, to turn up the volume.. it was only when i turned it down to very small sips, that i could truly enjoy it’s magnificent interplay of slightly overripe fruitiness and old, noble wood. by then, unfortunately, my sample was quite gone, so all i had left was to bask in the glory of the last sips..life, when you finally get it, it’s almost over..

The expression of the barrel is relatively dark but high-quality, the wine is thick and dry, with dry milk flakes, red berries, and dried plums at the beginning, and some lotus seeds and nuts appear at the end, 90-90.5

Very malty, beeswax, a bit fluffy, quite dry and earthy, fruity aromas only appear after a while. Cherry, fruit mash, fruit candy and maple syrup. The taste shows strong sweetness - almost sugary, candied fruits, sweet woods, white grapes and chewy candies. The finish is medium long, smooth and sweet and fruity. The price is very exaggerated, if I had had a sample beforehand, I would have said a maximum of 230 € would be worth to me

This is one of the best whiskeys of the last 2 years - I left both samples 28Y from Bushmills for Easter ... Brilliant

Great malt that has an incredible amount to offer. With a little water it also becomes dangerously tasty. Already a very high class of Irish whiskey. For me only slightly weaker in the finish. The rest is great!

I had higher expectations. In my opinion, the Malaga Cask overpowers the flavors. It seems artificial to me, not authentic.

This particular Bushmills is undoubtedly very good and has an exceptional profile, but not special enough in terms of value for money if you ask me

Had only rated 94 p. But after I tried it, like last night, I think that there is hardly an Irish whiskey for my taste buds that I have tried so far, which is so harmonious and tastes overwhelming in cask strength and quite old. The Bushi 21 is my favorite Irishman until this 28th Malaga came and was in replacement. Great praise to Bushmills ...... Wow Wow Wow

One whiskey with two distinct nosing, can I call it a two-sided dram? I wish the finish could be better, oh well, nonetheless it's still a great Irish.
