You can drink a sherry right away... He has his qualities, no question. But here the barrel has done a great job and there is nothing left of the original distillery character. If you know it, can handle it and like hearty fruit notes, you can't go wrong with it.

First entry, although I have seen on FB that have already tried him some. But then, let's go ;-) First of all kudos to the Whiskyhort, who answered my questions as fast as possible and also processed the order super fast. There have been a few 10 Glenlivets First Fill sherry whiskys in cask strength lately, which I have tried. Actually, I remember only the 3 from the whisky message, because it is always very special and unique. This livet from the hoard picks up and is similarly complex and intense. The nose starts beguiling and releases a lot of spices and dried fruit. Alcohol is only slightly noticeable and so he gives it but once little free. After another half-time, he seems more open and revealing. I hear dark cherries, roasted aromas and chocolaty hints. In the background some cardamom, dry yeast and salt crystal. I try it with some water and it gets even more intense. In the end, I've tilted 15 drops of water into the 2cl and it always comes back to something new. The first onset in the mouth (here without water) is just too strong and powerful for me today. I then start with two pots of water to 2cl. Even that mitigates the monster from little. After initial alcoholic onset, I get a lot of dark fruit, shortbread and coffee. Some ginger and red berries come after. Another 3 drops of water reveal anise, star fruit and oranges in chocolate (similar to Jaffa cake). Another 5 drops and he is almost perfect for me. The finish then long and warm with lots of oak, roasted aromas and tobacco notes. He comes back several times until he stays slightly dry. Conclusion: really very successful and intense. This is a perfect whisky for "water games". From this point of view and the amount of drinkable whisky, he is then also absolutely priced. Thank you for the nice bottling. Still there is him in the hoard, I would not leave me so much time ;-)
