Нос	93	Nose: Structured, smooth, delicate, yet intense. Milk chocolate, nougat, hazelnut cream, multifloral honey, chocolate-covered marzipan, roasted pecans, leather, a touch of salt, and coffee with milk. The sweetness is perfectly balanced with sweet citrus, candied orange peel, sweet red fruits, hot raspberry mousse, a hint of spice (surprisingly more noticeable in the Bussówka than in the Elephant), primarily cyma non with cocoa and hot chocolate. After a while, dates, figs, a touch of varnish, and sweet and sour cherry liqueur emerge. 93.00
Вкус	91	Palate: Thick, full-bodied, and creamy. Less sweet than the aroma. Dark chocolate, walnuts, Brazil nuts, burnt brown sugar, more earthy, heavy, dirty, and tart. Wet wood, bitter coffee, leather, salty and bitter caramel. Tart citrus, apricot pit, dried apricots, dates. Sandalwood emerges after a while. Right from the start, a touch of spice, cinnamon, pepper, and cocoa powder also emerge. 91.50

[August, 2019] A small sample of this heavily sherried Linkwood (remember: scores and notes based on small samples only are not as reliable because some drams demand a larger measure to enfold their full beauty, e.g. WB id 117033) - but this is perfect to get a first impression... ...and this is a typical modern "heavy spiked" dram with extreme sherry and wooden notes that marginalise the Linkwood malt to insignificance. This could be any spirit from any distillery (even industrial alcohol) and that is why I do not like such drams. I want to drink whisky, not fortified sherry with heavy wooden tannins. But other drinkers might see this differently and this is absolutely okay - just your taste is relevant, nothing else...

Нос	89	The colour is burnished and the nose offers a modern sherry profile without flaws (no sulphur) but with significant wooden aromas. The malt aromas are squeezed to marginality between these two strong spikes and somehow I miss them because this modern sherry profile is not as rich and complex as the old style sherry maturations used to be. Therefore malt-driven aromas are needed to create a balanced profile which is not the case here. Nonetheless a fine nose, for sure.
Вкус	87	The taste is about the same: Heavy modern sherry flavours fight with strong (bitter) wooden notes over dominance - and the malt does not dare to enter this battlefield at all. No, this is not a harmonic or balanced dram - this is a clash of two titans with extreme weapons. But I am sure there are lovers of such drams out there...
Финиш	86	The whisky arrives hot and not much coating on the palate with a significant drying-metallic feeling that is distracting, unfortunately. The finish is long and turns to the bitter side with heavy tannins from the sherry cask. This dram should have been bottled some years earlier, to be honest. Water releases chalky-mineral notes in the nose and turns the taste even more bitter like so often with heavily sherried drams. I prefer the neat dram.

For me Kavalan Solist Sherry is a reference for this heavy sherry style in terms of quality and price. This one is good, but way too expensive even at the original price, not to mention the inflated 400€.

Нос	—	Deep aroma of cherry liqueur. The entire palette of impressions with stewed prunes, dates, raisins, milk chocolate, roasted coffee, demerara sugar, some nuts, orange zest, cloves and red berries. Rich, dignified and quite complex.
Вкус	—	Chocolate liqueur, toffee, fresh coffee, dates, prunes. It's quite sweet, but there is also some slight bitterness. Although it's certainly rich, I have a feeling that the palate does not deliver compared to the nose.
Финиш	—	Medium long, a touch of mint and spices with pepper and chilli. A little fruity, but overall rather dry and quite bitter.

Bought in 2016 for a fraction of today's price, today for the second time in a glass after many years and it is completely convincing. Perfect, not overpowering sherry with lots of good oak. These were the barrels that MoS grew up with.

Нос	93	Wonderfully sweet, very flowery and fruity sherry. Intense tobacco note, some peppermint tea, cherry jam. world class!
Вкус	91	Here, too, not too heavy, rather flowery, fruity sherry notes, followed by a delicious, slightly spicy oak note. No bitter notes.
Финиш	91	Long, drier with dark chocolate. Heavy honey sweetness lingers.

Incredibly balanced and complex. A plethora of flavors. If I had a full bottle, I’m sure I’d keep finding more and more. My single dram was simply not enough. A wonderful pour that makes me wish I had much more. Linkwood truly has some stunners coming from it’s grounds.

Нос	90	Sweet sultanas, leather bound books, baking spices, smoked oak. As it breathes, sweet notes comes to light - caramel meltaways, cherries - and even a hint of mint. Musty notes of well worn hardwood floors covered in dust like the corner of an old warehouse.
Вкус	92	Dark chocolates, maraschino cherries, raisin syrup, tobacco and leather, allspice, nutmeg, and clove. A oaky bitterness is ever so present but in the most pleasing of ways.
Финиш	95	Long and complex. Cloves and sour red fruits, new leather, fresh cinnamon on the back of the tongue. Further into the dram, sea salt notes appear on the lips. Warm dark fruits remain with you long after the dram is gone.

Nose- Cigar box made of exotic wood, lots of leather, nuts, milk chocolate, ripe raisins, figs. Subtly and at the same time very pleasant. Taste - the sweetness of red fruit, toffee, lots of spices, nutmeg, white pepper, cinnamon, and many more that I will not take out now. Then we have leathers and nice exotic woods. Finish - Durable but not too long, oak, a bit of resin, dried fruit and light tobacco changing a bit into a coffee.

Нос	—	Round and full. Raisins, acacia honey, hazelnut, and a hint of vanilla. Oranges, yellow plums. Cherries. Forest floor. Wet leaves. Teahouse. Moist chocolate cake.
Вкус	—	Creamy. Cherry jam, oranges, plums. Red apple. Liquid dark chocolate. Black tea. Almond biscuits. Walnut, a hint of lemon pepper, dates, and a hint of leather.

THE best whisky so far for me in 2018 (11.02.2018). An incredible sherry whisky. Perfectly balanced, very dignified and noble. An absolute dream!

Нос	—	The first smell in the new superglass literally kills you with an aromas of leather, wood, cinnamon, cherry, strawberry, coffee, cocoa, caramel and a hint of eucalyptus. Everything is very harmonious, nothing stands out negatively.
Вкус	—	Madness! Sherry, Sherry, Sherry! The 49.8% are not felt at all. Espresso, cinnamon, strawberry, cherry, old leather, cigar box, dark cocoa, dark chocolate 85% and a hint of caramel. Wow!
Финиш	—	Medium to long. Very complex. The dark fruits, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, coffee, cocoa and caramel are constantly changing. Slowly, the tongue gets dry on the palate and it leaves an indescribable feeling in the mouth that yaws after a next sip.

Nose: aged sherry, honey combs, wine notes, melon, cinnamon, raisins with chocolate Taste: From the first sip, you can feel old sherry, plus some wine notes. On subsequent approaches, toffee and chocolate with raisins are noticeable. Notes super deep and very complex. Rating: 90 | 100 - Finish with a flavor of aged sherry with chocolate. Very good whisky. Worth a try. The flavor palette is nicely built!

Нос	93	Wonderful stuff and quite uplifting. Fresh bread and pastries with ripened plums and grapes. Yeah, the buttery confectionaries.
Вкус	91	A bit dry, but loads dried fruits -- cherries, grapes, cranberries. Some nutty flavors also - peanuts and hazelnuts.
Финиш	91	Still a bit dry at the end but with loads of dried fruits still. Love it.

Grade tasted on the village. Sensational sherry board that gives the distillery character room to breathe. Complex and supple, very varied and a perfect palate! 2nd time tasted in May 2016: 92P !!

Sweet sherry, very intense nose, herbs and oak. Great nose! In the mouth, the alcohol bites easily, although "only" 49.8%. Some oak and sweetish. Medium length finish. Very good whisky - Recommended
