Round, tasteful, unexpected smoke and a special finish. After a number of different sherry edradours (including van Wees) this was the most surprising.

10 years sherry cask maturation, natural colour, un-chillfiltered for little money. Actually I bought it because of the color. After i opened it, i bought more of that stuff.

A brooding Highland sherry bomb exploding in the glass giving off a nuclear nose that sniffs like furniture polish meeting dark fruitcake. Taste is good, so good with rum soaked raisins in a room full of old books and varnished wood while cha cha cha with taste and espresso and diesel. Great warm finish. Excessive, eccentric, leathery and strangely compelling. Dried fruits on an archeological survey :-) Cask influence: yes. But what a cask. Wauw!

A sherry whisky, where the PLV is correct, but I lack the force! The finish is zero ... A good sherry whisky for beginners, diluted at the factory, but a delicate temptation for aficionados. That is why it is not obvious to me to rate departure with 89, with all the love for the whisky. Nevertheless; for that money there are surely worse things. Honestly! I like it, coffee, cocoa, sherry, everything is harmoniously round on the palate ... so far everything is good - but in the end it also has no corners, no edges and (yes) just too little power. That's why I got 87 points and a bottle that will probably not survive in my bar for 2 months; because good whisky, with potential that may be a little too thin in the end; for this price but still delivers .. UPDATE: I then had it (5 weeks later) in a blind tasting, and it tasted great to me ..! 88 points this time. The palate is great for the price, but as I said, the finish is quite short. I also noticed that "blind".

More matured and tannic than cask 6, also a bit heavier sherry. Both are outstanding in this category, cask 354 is a bit weaker.

In direct comparison with some cask strength bottlings of sister casks this one just lacks in ABV. Good but nothing special.

Really damn good. Is this lightly peated? ⁣

I bought it clearly because of the color. I'm a big lover of sherry cask aged whiskys. The rating is subjective based on my expectations. People with different tastes might rate it much higher.

At first, I really didn’t like this. Savoury sherry isn’t really my favourite flavour profile, and this whisky is a super-intense earth-bomb – incredibly savoury and vegetal. The nose is actually very nice, but the palate is all earthy funk and bitter oak. As I sipped, though, I started to come around. The sweetness and complexity started to emerge on the palate and finish. It’s still definitely not something I’d reach for every day, but it’s got some good stuff going on if you set your expectations right. Make sure you’re prepared for something extra-savoury and earthy, exactly like I wasn’t! Nose: Dark, sticky sherry. Burnt sugar, toffee, cola syrup, cassis, stewed cherries, and peanut butter & grape jelly sandwich. Dark-roast coffee, dark chocolate, and old leather. There’s something very earthy and vegetal in there – rotting leaves, tobacco, ancho chilis. Toasted sesame oil, and an old sauna in the woods. Palate: Medium-thick mouthfeel. Bitter orange, mushrooms, and heavy earth on the arrival. Heavy tobacco on the development, with bitter oak, overbrewed tea, punky birch stumps, potting soil, lapsang souchong, and wine-stewed beef. Only now does the sweetness come in, as a load of burnt sugar and molasses. Some dried citrus peel, blackberries, clove, 90% dark chocolate, and maple syrup towards the finish. Finish: Medium-long, savoury-sweet. Tobacco, cooked vegetables, mushrooms, roasted peanuts, cumin, and molasses. Extra-dark chocolate, strong tea, orange oil, and a hint of vanilla. A little sulfur.

re-reviewed with the last drops of the bottle. yes this is a stronger oak influence for the typical 10yo Edi’s. i can understand if it is too much for some, me personally loves oak and a little more dryness. still an amazing nose after some oxidisation.

excellent dram, smooth and very soft, intense fruity flavours and outstanding taste

Great dark color, very intense taste for a 10 year bottling. Immediately after the first dram makes you want more of it. The whisky was available for around € 50 and therefore has an almost unbeatable PLV.

strong oak moment compared to cask 6, but not as long lasting. still great value for money. keep up the good work and low prices edradour
