Blind 19 Gogo Tasting Excellent fruity wine. Irish? After revelation it seems obvious, fantastic.

What a brilliant nose. Tropical, delicate and complex, on passion fruit, mango. Lightly buttery, with a very light gentian berry. Very light peat. |

In the mouth, the continuity of the fruit, always buttery. Passion fruit, papaya, lime. We have a light but present woodiness, with a little pepper and clove. |

Tasted a regular bottle (rather pale like current 21yo Springbanks)

Strawberry. A little sulfur. Smoky. Floral. Fruit basket. Peach. I think this would taste even better if I took my time and drank it properly. It was interesting that the spirit had a similar character to the 1991 Springbank. The spirit walks a fine line between syrup, cold medicine, and strawberry.

After several miniatures of this 21yo Springbank with the jagged label I got a regular bottle. However, this one is not that dark such as the 21yo Springbank with the brown label which is not jagged (shows 1 of 2400 bottles worldwide). This one is more on exotic fruits and citrus fruits while the darker expressions are more on sherry and dark fruits. It's though not comparable to current expressions of the 21yo with the golden label which are more leathery and even little smoky.

Tasted an official miniature

We did this jagged-edge bottlings H2H on two different occasions: one time against a dumpy 21-year "John Mitchell" bottling for the Japanese market, and just last night against another jagged-edge bottling. The quality is unmistakable. The odour dominates the room instantly: a basket of every single kind of fruit you can imagine. The quintessential "fruity whisky" in my books. It's worth mentioning that this bottle had been opened for about 8 years while we did the H2H tastings. When we compared it to another jagged-edge 21 that was freshly opened, this one lacked some muscle and smoke in comparison, but that we considered just a matter of being open for so long. So a freshly opened bottle has some incredible power and complexity! Dream whisky, such a pleasure to have a chance to drink this on multiple occasions.

Tasted an official miniature: Compared to the other Springbank 21yo with the same label (not jagged) and with "one of 2400" on it this one is more on green fruits and zesty - in other words a tad more bitter. Still very good.

scbp-5351, 12yo with strong flavor not like heavy sherry, this is more elegant, like the style of many old ob, under the premise that the distillation characteristics are prominent, the performance is good enough. If I had to match the benchmark, I would think that this is similar to some Laphroaig 10yo bottlings in the late 80s that did not have many old sherry barrels.

It was probably turpentine, but there was a hint of gloomy air. There is a little smell of old newspapers, green apple juice, condensed milk, although there is no gasoline, peat and other flavors, but the fruity funker shows a strong flavor, durian, lemon and salt, a lot of pineapple, guava, sugar cane as the base. 92 |

Some old newspapers and old bottles of caramel have a stronger flavor at the beginning, canned peach, strawberry drink, green apple, fresh grapefruit meat, sugar content is less than enough acidity, it is difficult to tame bitterness. The overall base is sea salt and some grassy notes, followed by a hint of barley sugar and a citrus bitter finish. The overall appearance is oily and low-stimulation, and the wine is slightly youthful and restless. p90b86 |

Slightly astringent, wheat roots, citrus bitterness, tannins are sticky and not rough, a little spicy. 88 |
This 1995 release Springbank 21 changed noticeably with time and air. Initially it gave off aromas of smoked chestnuts, honey and jams, and crazy warehouse funk. Now, it has evolved. So much batch variation exists in this release, as some markets received versions with more sherry, some with more bourbon, and some that were a balanced mix of bourbon and sherry.
Sherry classic! And old-school oiliness! A beautiful, soft, soulful drinking story! 22+ 22 21+ 22 88

When poured, it starts with muddled mint and menthol. It then opens up into a familiar and comforting array of ripe fruits that are accompanied with the Springbank signature of toasted char and light brine. Fruit wise, there are Apricots, peaches, mango and whiffs of coconut oil. The fruits are accompanied with aromatic wood lacquer, creating a unique aroma that reminds me of some Uber fruity cognacs. The peat is more discernible in this expression as compared to the dumpies bottled in the 1980s. It’s soft but with a clear coastal edge to it, wafting in behind the fruits with sea air and dry earthiness, providing depth and complexity to an otherwise fruit forward whisky. The peat grows bigger over time, developing into toasted spices and damp wood over the fireplace. The palate drinks bigger than its 46% proof would lead me to believe. On the front of the tongue, thick honey, pine resin and fruit syrups mingle together with spicy horseradish, old leather, earthy metallic elements, toasted bread and table salt. The finish is fruity with a dusty old books, fruit peels, savoury herbs and old aged tabacco. These old springbanks find a lovely balance between aged elements without leaning too heavily towards the sherry and distillate character while retaining a sense of freshness. It reminds me of the 100 proof 12yo green thistle US import, albeit with less clarity and power. If I were to be critical, the only issue I have with it is that the overall profile and lightly sherried fruit forward style almost makes it seem as though it was manipulated or manufactured to reach this state, like most modern whiskies are nowadays. (Even though we all know it wasn’t). I personally prefer whiskies that are slightly more idiosyncratic but for all my unnecessary complaining, this is a whisky I would highly recommend to the springbank fan boys when given the chance to understand what older style Springbank is like without breaking the bank.

What a phenomenal whisky. This is pure Springbank characteristics, it has everything here. The 46% tastes powerful. The oily Springbank has total power and variety of aromas. Honey-sweet, fruit, spice and subtle tobacco and bacon notes. The Springbank is dark but by no means overloaded with sherry. You can still taste the old days, when the 21s were 2-3 classes above today's bottlings. Once you've tasted it, you want to take the next sip straight away... compared to the latest "aged" bottlings, which are already at 1000+, the current price level of around 1000 is still absolutely right...

God, how I love these musty fruit notes when they don't hit you right in the face, but when they're moderate. Baked apples, plums, glazed fruits. Some minerality. Oak tartness, resin? There are many notes of all kinds of pastries, but I can't single out anything specific. Like apple or cherry pie. As it breathes a little, it becomes fresher - a little stubbornness disappears and the mold is less noticeable. The finish is fruity, musty, slightly cellar-like.
