Puh without water pretty heavy, good with water drinkable, beautiful chocolate Sherrymalt

Very sherry-heavy, there is not much left of the Glenlivet, apart from a slight menthol note. Water is mandatory, you can do without tasting notes, a (good) sherry barrel ...

My first guess was a Kavalan Solist Sherry Cask, quite similar though.

It has a relatively oily viscosity and its bouquet is of relatively strong intensity. I have aromas of nuts, chocolate, oak, raisins and Christmas spices. Not very complex. Relatively sweet in taste. Alcohol is clearly noticeable and the body is moderately heavy.

Although relatively young, not a light malt. He looks more mature! He has a lot of steam. Evolves in the glass. You can let him breathe something. Ordinary dilution reserves. I like it.

Pollen count describes it well. The force is intense, but not uncomfortable. A little water and it will make a wonderful dram. Round, powerful, dark sherry fruit. 86-90 – Wow, really good one, need a bottle

Powerful, strong and very rich in content. The nose is still very sweet and absolutely unalcoholic. So suitable for the season with marzipan, gingerbread and spicy top notes. Dark dried fruits like dates, raisins and apricots. Then a lot of milk chocolate and a little nut. Out of the back some peppermint and ginger, which could come from the alcohol. In the mouth then a true explosion with sharpness and so much power! Central note are the filled gingerbread hearts with orange marmalade. A trace of Maggi, chocolate and part follow. Then the above fruits with nut and roasted chestnuts. The ginger confirms itself towards the end with an interplay with black pepper. The finish is felt medium with fine roasted aromas and lots of pepper.

This one does have a lot of power which can't be denied. Nose: Leather, dried fruits, wood, surprisingly little alcohol Mouth: Wow it's got power. Can use a little bit of water. Dried fruits, chocolate, leather and wood with a hint of tobacco. Finish: This one is made to stay. Very long finish with sherry fruit and wood. Surprisingly similar to the taste and nose. I like it a lot it is very straigt forward and you get what you smell. Sadly i only do own a sample.

Wow, this is a brilliant dram - a real beast! A sherry beast with an explosion of aromas. Lots of fruit, sweetness and a massive load of warming spices, which is all in constant change. For only 10 years very well balanced, mature and pleasantly drinkable. The high alcohol content of 66.6% is noticeable but not pungent and doesn't disturb at all. On the contrary, the alcohol throws the abundance of aromas in the nose and throat, so that you can still feel the beast on your tongue the next morning. An outstanding single malt - at least to me!

Blind tasting October 15, 2018 Color: Deep red he lies heavy and oily in the glass and pulls thick streaks. Nose: Here I am typing on a 1st fill sherry butt, intense sherry notes, leather, espresso, no sulfur, rather higher middle aged alcohol. Mouth: Strong onset, the alcohol is present, but not too strong, tobacco flavors, leather, also here I find the espresso notes, slightly bitter (but not unpleasant). Finish: Ui, he'll stay here for a while, getting drier.

Today I need to correct my "me-5-years-ago". The nose is superb. This one needs water on the palate so badly, but it ruins the experiance. Best without water, but you need to be able to take the punch

To my surprise: on the nose it does not require water at all. surprisingly non alcoholic for its strenght. On the palate you get quite a punch which you won't expect from the nose. Benefits from water a lot, but only needs it on the palate

For a direct comparison with the Allardice diluted to 46% vol. Aroma / Nose feeling: Honey, wild berries, currants and pleasant sweetness rise from the nosing glass. The alcohol can not be hidden and makes the Glenlivet appear fresh. Vanilla and malt smell intimate and provide a mellow mood for the malt. Over time, some acidity and fruitiness develops. Taste / mouthfeel: Very concise, sweet and a strong start. The 20% Vol. Less are still very expressive and the alcohol is more present than in comparable Malts with 46% Vol. Slightly creamy and slightly sour and bitter coming to me finally associations of peanut shells and nutmeg come to mind. With each sip the impression of the "Beast" intensifies. By that, I mean complacency at the beginning of each sip and a few seconds later the transformation into something snappy. Finish / aftertaste / Length: Moderately bitter with very green wood, sourdough and parsley, the scotch glides down medium to long and becomes a bit astringent. At 66.6% vol .: The aroma seems much more closed and is a bit shy. The taste is almost identical in the first moments, although the 66.6% Vol make in a short time any tasting impossible. The mouthfeel when tasting, however, is worlds better. Really full, creamy and full. Nice. Unfortunately, the malt loses again in the finish. Overall, a dilution is highly recommended. Where you settle down is a matter of taste. Overall impression / comment: Oh well. Had expected more (which is unfair to the malt). For me he is still very successful for the ten years and for certain moments a welcome scotch in my glass. However, I would not necessarily buy more. Samples yes, large bottles rather not. Points: 88/100

Extreme sherry monster, interesting for tasting. Strong, strong, thick, concentrated aroma. At full strength, not very comfortable in taste, too oaky.
